2017Highly glazed extension with projecting black edged roof complimenting a 1950’s detached home.
Unit One Architects were appointed for the Interior Design and Architecture services involved in the extension and internal renovation of a 1950’s detached house in Hertfordshire.
Unit One Architects designed a two storey side extension to replace the existing garage. Space for a home office was provided at ground floor and at first-floor level, an en-suite and walk-in wardrobe was added to the master bedroom. In addition to this, a new garden room was built to the rear of the property and this provides an area which enables the client to enjoy their beautiful garden, whatever the weather.
An outdated and dark internal layout was reconfigured to provide a light and spacious kitchen. Large double doors were added to the Kitchen to provide a direct link out onto the rear garden. A better connection and flow of spaces was provided from the kitchen through into the dining room and then on into the living and garden room.
Unit One Architects were involved in the design of bespoke joinery and finishes. The client loves the light and space that the renovations have created.
This home renovation and extension allowed us to link the garden to the original living spaces in the house. The new garden room has large sliding doors and skylight that bring huge amounts of natural light into the space.
The extension has provided the family with a space that can be used all year round. The new garden room extends onto the terrace when the doors are open and it allows us to experience the changing season and the garden all year round.
