Extension & Refurbishment of dated property into a family home
A period property built in the 1920's had lots of character but lacked modern spaces and had not been updated for some time. The clients brief was to create a home that would give all of the space and convenience of a modern family home, but to retain the character and homely feel of a period property.
And so Unit One Architects designed and project managed a full renovation in order to retained the key features of the old property but created high ceilings and used natural light to really enhance its best characteristics.
The proposed works included a double storey extension to the side of the property allowing for a large modern kitchen, utility room and storage to be created. On the first floor, an new master bedroom and generous en-suite were created with a vaulted ceiling. A loft conversion was also carried out in order to add an a fourth bedroom to the house, which was essential to add back value in order to cover the investment needed for the works.
The biggest enhancements were the improved flow of space through the property and the abundance of natural light brought into different rooms to create a really fantastic family home.
