2016Due for completion in Spring 2017, the restored Steel City House will offer 60,000 sqm of prime Grade A office space.
Our client, Scott’s Developments, secured ownership of Steel City House after outbidding residential developers who wanted to separate the building into apartments. The £5 million restoration project was welcomed by the council due to the lack of quality office space available in Sheffield City Centre.
Our brief was to increase the capacity of the building with the addition of a roof extension, as well as undertake a complete internal refurbishment.
The roof extension is made predominately of glass to offer panoramic views of the city below and increase natural light coming into the building. The extension will create an extra two floors of office space to increase the capacity.
Internally a reception area and business café will lead to a new central atrium with bridges linking open floor plates to new glass lifts. Although contemporary in style, the interiors specified will complement the classic external façade and attract a wide range of potential tenants.
