New headquarters for international furniture maker Brunner, converting a historic warehouse on Rosebery Ave. in Clerkenwell into a light spacious gallery showroom and offices, in the heart of London’s design quarter.
Set in an unusually long narrow industrial 1890s warehouse building, the new showroom is part of Brunner’s long term plan to expand its UK operations and dramatically increase the brand’s public face.
London’s newest home for a diverse community of people passionate about positive social change. A 40,000 sqft hospitality project on Conduit St, in the heart of Mayfair, London. The project involved the full interior refurbishment and extension of an existing 8-storey neo-classical building to create a new a new members club with a social and sustainability focus.
Previously, The Heroes of Alma, this house when a pub was a popular haunt with the Beatles, Queen and Pink Floyd as it was the closest pub to Abbey Road studios. When the Beatles were recording there during the Sixties, the Heroes of Alma was where they would beat a retreat for a restorative pint or two. It has been a house for many years, but it still attracts camera-wielding tourists on the Beatles' trail.
Kings Gate forms a pair of buildings on Victoria Street in Westminster, with its neighbour The Zig Zag Building. The scheme replaces an existing slab-like office building on Victoria Street in central London with two new buildings that incorporate a mix of retail, office space and housing. We won this project in an invited competition in Spring 2010, and gained planning consent in November 2011. The main contractor was Lend Lease and Practical Completion was achieved in Autumn 2015.
Our clients purchased this Grade II listed terraced house in a vacant, dilapidated condition. The building was split between a house and basement flat; our brief was to fully renovate and extend the house, and add a bedroom and improve the quality of the spaces within the flat, whilst preserving and enhancing the historic integrity of the building.
This project is a “deep-retrofit” of a 170-year old grade II listed Victorian townhouse. It is the first listed building in England to meet the AECB Silver Performance Standard and in June 2014 the project was announced as finalist in the AJ Retrofit Awards.
