Focal Point Gallery is South Essex’s gallery for contemporary visual art, located within the Forum in Central Southend. It adopts a new model of gallery development, incorporated into a larger cultural complex comprising Southend Library and College and the University Of Essex.
Full restoration of a Regency period pub, and the building of a new mixed use building adjacent, with a glazed link containing circulation for both buildings creating a clear divide between the old and new.
The project created a flagship building for the newly formed college, establishing a bold new façade and entrance whilst internally providing a range of formal and break-out spaces that reflect the college’s new vision for teaching and learning.
The horseshoe plan transformed an existing courtyard into a bright and flexible atrium space, while a suite of state of the art teaching and breakout spaces were created in a refurbished block and new build wings.

The temporary refurbishment and improvement of a single-storey prefabricated building on Lower Marsh, London, to create a new mixed-use creative enterprise hub for Meanwhile Space CIC. The project includes a co-working space, an office for The Job Shop, and a retail unit.
