A development of 63 high quality apartments forming part of masterplan for Toynbee Hall charity.
Working in collaboration with London Square we have designed 63 high quality apartments on this historic estate in Whitechapel. This development forms part of the masterplan for the Grade II listed Toynbee Hall that also includes a new, five storey office building with community space. Construction is scheduled to complete in 2019.
Our sensitive approach is guided by the heritage of Toynbee Hall and the organisation’s work with communities in the East End, as well as making reference to the nearby brick warehouses that line Commercial Street. Our design increased the height of the buildings by two storeys to maximise value for our client, while overcoming the difficulties posed by the site, including retention of the façade and the complexities of constructing in close proximity
