2012Undertaken in collaboration with Landscape Designer Marcus Barnett, the project was commissioned by the Times Newspaper in association with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Inspired by the cellular structure of plants and their processes of growth, this pavilion encompassed the unique patterns they embody.
The plan of the garden was grown by capillary branching and cellular division, continually connecting to the biological structures on a new, intriguing scale. The garden was meticulously landscaped with plants that represented their medicinal, dietary and industrial importance to our everyday lives.
The timber and plastic pavilion structure extends the cellular growth into three dimensional space, which will allow visitors to experience the patterns of biological structure at an unfamiliar scale. The pavilion and garden are now located in Kew Gardens and publicly accessible until Spring 2012.
