CIAO has recently submitted a planning application for a development of 90 flats in Grimsby, north of England.
The project aims to re-generate the former art college site and with it the all neighbourhood.
The proposal also involves the refurbishment
and conversion of two listed buildings.
The ground floor of the development will accommodate eight commercial units, parking spaces and other facilities.
Most of the car park is covered by a green
terrace which provides access to the residential blocks and also plenty of amenity space for the future inhabitants.
The front of Building A facing Eleanor Street,
creates a dialogue with the proportions of
the Art College that can be easily read in the façade.
The choice of materials, with red aged bricks and cast stone cladding for storey markers and balconies, is also a clear reference to the listed buildings finishes.
