Colwyn Foulkes - Portland House Student Housing

Colwyn Foulkes

Our design for this student housing scheme in Exeter integrates retail units into the building, to cater for the students, as well as paying close attention to the surrounding topography.

Surrounded by tall buildings on all sides, the angle and elevation of the building allows for significant light penetration, and a greater field of view than the property’s predecessor.

The front façade is designed to make each room unit stand out, as a distinctive entity, yet the materials, cladding, and contemporary style unify the separate elements. A physical metaphor for the student experience, as the individual stance contributes to the overall design.
