A former post office becomes a community space for Camden's young people
Forming part of a parade of shops on Finchley Road, we have completed a new youth centre, The Hive, for the London Borough of Camden to be a safe and welcoming place for young people aged 16 to 24, who are caught in the gap between children’s and adults’ services.
The Hive is a place for young people to relax, study, meet new people and to get information about local services. There is a cinema, a café and a garden, as well as spaces for e-learning and personal study, and a social enterprise where young people can get experience to help build their CVs.
We codesigned The Hive, formerly a post office, in a series of workshops with the young people involved, giving them ownership of every aspect of the design of the project from the brief, to the overall layout, to details of finish and colour.
