Ethos

Reed Watts Architects is a design-led studio based in London. We produce creative and thoughtful architecture over a range of scales. Our work is diverse and covers a range of sectors, from houses and fit-outs to larger commercial and residential projects, public and cultural buildings.

Every project is unique and we like to work with the specific characteristics of each site and the project brief in order to fulfil the ambitions of our clients. To achieve this, we involve our clients in every aspect of the design process, listening carefully to understand each brief and sharing ideas as they develop. We present sketches and working models throughout the project, to explain, test and continually refine the designs.

We believe that good design enriches our environment and our lives and that it should be accessible to everyone. Many of our projects deal with listed buildings and conservation areas and we enjoy the challenges and opportunities offered by existing buildings. We offer a range of services: from early concept design work to a full architectural service.

V&A Cafe

The V&A in South Kensington hosts over 4m visitors every year and its main café enjoys an outstanding reputation as one of the most beautiful in London. The brief for Reed Watts was to deliver a café in the Madejski Garden that would be met with a similar reception, replacing an existing structure that was no longer fit for purpose. Inspired by the traditional garden pergola and taking the rhythm of the existing building as a starting point, the structure was designed so that it would sit lightly within the garden,...
