PiP Architecture

Park View, Chesterton

PiP's proposal was to demolish a 1950’s detached dwelling which had fallen in to disrepair and was of poor and inefficient construction to enable the erection of four five-bed-roomed dwellings with off street parking, including landscaping and access. Our design for Park View demonstrates our ability to match creative form to practical function in our building schemes. Given the constraints of the site, we minimised the circulation space by providing split level access to each floor accessed off a glazed stairwell. Each floor is separated via a glazed screen which allows natural...

The Potting Shed

PiP were commissioned by Jesus College to design a new potting shed to replace one currently located some distance from the colleges glasshouses. This would serve the gardeners and improve the planting process and productivity within the College. Due to the sensitive nature of the Fellows Gardens, a more sculptural approach was adopted when designing the structure. The shed is constructed from Corten steel which will weather over time and is roofed in sedum to portray an upturned plant pot. The circular layout responds to the in/out process of re-potting...

Eden Street Backway, Cambridge

PiP's Eden Street Backway development for Jesus College, Cambridge, illustrates our commitment to excellence in architecture through our application of innovative, high quality design and flexible working practices. Our proposal was to demolish twelve lock-up garages and outbuildings fronting Portland Place and Eden Street Backway and to erect five two-bedroomed dwellings with off street parking and three one-bedroomed dwellings, including landscaping and access. Our design had to comply with a number of planning constraints. Following pre-application advice and comments from the Design and Conservation Panel, we had to ensure we...

PiP Architecture

Fen Road, Milton

PiP's Fen Road development illustrates our ability to combine expertise in design with flexible working practices to create innovative, high quality design. The scheme also demonstrates our dedication to and expertise in sustainable building methods and renewable energies which we deliver efficient, environmentally responsible architecture that best realises the ambitions and budgets of our clients. Our brief was to develop a design to meet the retirement needs of the clients. The brief focused on energy efficiency, through the application of renewable technologies and contemporary design, including oak furniture throughout, with a budget...

The Pool House

PiP were commissioned to submit proposals to the local authority for the erection of a new superstructure above an existing swimming pool substructure. The existing shell, plant and services were to be removed to make way for the development. The application was approved under delegated powers by the local authority, receiving praise from planning officers for its innovative and well-conceived design. After having the timber frame shipped from the United States, where it was manufactured, the components were transported to site for erection. Consideration to the site...

L2, Orchard Park

L2 is situated north of Cambridge City Centre adjacent to the Cambridge Science Park, PiP have gained detailed planning permission for 63 studio apartments together with an on-site gymnasium, underground car park and 2 retail/commercial units. Our proposal sought to provide not only private dwellings but affordable dwellings and commercial opportunities for a wide range of the housing demographic.
