Ethos

PiM.studio is an innovative practice based in London working on Architecture, Urban Design and beyond.
Established in 2016, PiM.studio includes a team of 4 passionate and talented Architects and Designers working on projects at every scale with a flexible, multidisciplinary and collaborative approach.

SITE-SPECIFIC ARCHITECTURE - NATURAL MATERIALS
We design site-specific Architectures that belong to the Place where they are built and that can dialogue with their surroundings.
We create flexible spaces combining traditional natural materials like wood, stone, fabrics, paper and more with new advanced technologies to create a warm soft environment, which is also functional, performing, sustainable and contemporary, and we explore new possibilities by using standard construction materials and components in unexpected ways to develop innovative designs.
We design finely crafted details to create beautiful projects for our clients that respond to their briefs and create new relationships between the space and its users.

CLIENTS, BRIEF AND FUNDING
We work closely with our Clients at each Project stage, from Brief Development, to Concept and Technical Design Stages, we have experience in assisting our Clients with Funding Applications processes (HLF, Private Fund Raising?) and through Tender and Construction Stages.

OUR EXPERIENCE
Our experience in leading large international multidisciplinary teams to delivery complex projects of all sizes, from Museums to Universities, Conference Venues and Masterplans, to temporary pavilions and Exhibitions design, gives us the ability to maintain an open and flexible mind in every project we approach.
Each project, small or large, presents challenges and we aim to turn challenges into opportunities toward an always better project.

Sevenoaks Visitor Centre Competition Proposal

The proposal for the new Visitor Centre building aims at creating harmony with the surrounding Nature in a 2-ways integration.
On one hand, the building engages with the surrounding space by opening itself toward the outside, the lake and the nature, through a large outdoor Lake Terrace and an outdoor studio to the north.
On the other, we seek to integrate the Nature into the building by maximizing opportunities for the Reserve’s flora and fauna to “use” the building as part of the natural environment.
By designing different typologies of interstitial spaces all...

School in L'Aquila - Competition Proposal

We identify the need to create a friendly and welcoming place for children, outside the monotonous and impersonal schemes that characterize traditional school building; on the other hand, the indispensable opportunity to realize a school complex open to the city, a real Civic Centre, perfectly integrated into the surrounding socio-urban-environmental context without, however, undermining the delicate existing balance, but indeed improving them.
We chose to concentrate all teaching activities in a single building occupying the west plot. This solution increases the energy efficiency and management of the building by gathering all...

Malaspina Masterplan Competition ? First Prize

A new living identity: Glamorous Green Living
The proposed design seeks to stimulate a new sensitivity to agriculture, preferring ecological progressive policies, defending biodiversity and local specificity.
Imagining an alternative and unconventional urban lifestyle that combines city density, services and technology to the principles of a healthy life immersed in nature, an equipped nature that can be experienced and enjoyed by its inhabitants. A place to live in green.

Plurality as a Value
The masterplan reinterprets the urban Milan city block by translating it into a new reality like the traditionally agricultural area of...

The Embassy of the Climate Refugee - Wellcome Collection Pavilion Competition

In collaboration with ANDRECO

We propose a multidisciplinary project across architecture, art, science, social policies and welfare that aims to show in an innovative artistic context the consequences of the climate change affecting humans and their health (drought, desertification, fires, heat waves, topicalizations, floods) and creating new migration phenomena around the world.
This project is part of an existing research/collaboration between PiM.studio and Andreco aimed at investigating
how Climate Change affects people, their health and the environment, and focusing on “making the invisible visible”: finding creative solutions to translate scientific data into visual...
