Broad Street House
Broad Street House is new build home in Suffolk by Nash Baker Architects. The house utilises a palette of natural and traditional materials to blend with the rural street scene, and the exterior uses oak cladding and handmade bricks (both locally sourced) to blend with the architectural character of the village. The client’s brief was to replace the incongruous pre-existing 1980’s building with an exceptional contemporary home that was both sympathetic to the neighbouring properties, whilst still being of its time. Mansfield Street Apartment
This large Grade II listed apartment block in Marylebone was built in 1928 and forms part of the Howard de Walden Estate. Many years of insensitive, piecemeal alterations and extensions including a large 1970s rear extension that dominated the back of the house had taken a heavy toll. The clients approached Nash Baker Architects, to formulate a scheme to rebuild the rear extension and rationalise the upper and lower ground floors: Rather than live between small individually purposed rooms they wanted an open plan lifestyle with larger and more versatile spaces conducive...
The Cow Shed
The Cow Shed is a spacious Victorian barn located in Suffolk that has been converted into a contemporary residential dwelling. The barn is a large open plan loft-style studio space with an interesting vaulted ceiling with exposed lime washed timber roof trusses and a poured concrete floor. The space has a separate kitchen, shower room and large walk-in wardrobe.
