Trio: Kids Cafe, Shop, Event space.
Trio is a children’s cafe, shop and workshop space in Peckham. MW Architects were commissioned to convert the existing barbers shop into a large, bright, flexible space suitable for hosting toddler workshops combined with a spacious cafe for the enjoyment of parents and kids alike
A mini-extension made a huge difference for a South London family, shifting the gathering spaces from the cramped foyer to the brighter rear. Built with no structural changes, the new family rooms wrap around the kitchen’s original footprint and connect seamlessly to the existing home and garden.
Moving the dining table from the vestibule into the new extension freed up circulation space inside the front door and draws focus into an open rear wrapped in contrasting brick, bespoke cabinetry and glazing with frameless corners. Fresh herringbone-wood floors throughout the home...
A three-sided glass-box addition to a Grade II-listed house replaces a poorly used 1980s annex, easing flow around the house and garden with rear glazing and a glass floor. Modern twists like oversized porches and slimline brick subvert the local typology while satisfying the planning department.
In this trio of three-bedroom houses, rooms grow out from a narrow front foyer into a multilevel space connected by open staircases, airy landings and voids. Each house is positioned for maximum privacy and exposure to natural light while maintaining privacy and light for...
This disused building in a conservation area required a complete overhaul and extension. We created an award-winning seven-bedroom family home with 530 square metres of refurbished space, including a rear extension, roof terrace, two-storey side extension and loft conversion. The new helical staircase creates a four-storey void filled with natural light.
Opening up internal walls between the common areas and orienting them toward the outdoors allowed a free-flowing layout for eating, studying and entertaining. New, enlarged spaces include a kitchen-dining room, vast lower-ground playroom, luxurious master suite and a full...
