Ethos

Since 1996 we have specialised in the design of environments for children and adults with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) and other learning difficulties.

Our expertise embraces the design of residential and educational buildings as well as respite centres for new builds and refurbishments. Providers of care and education for children and adults with ASD and other learning difficulties do not always have access to designers who are experienced in this specialist field. Furthermore, there has been a lack of recognition of the fact that a well-designed building can be influential in the lives of those that are coping with a disability and their carers. We can assist clients in the preparation of a brief so that the right building or refurbishment can be delivered at the right cost.

The key elements are design and management; design to ensure that the building will be a good place in which to live or work and management to make sure that the brief and cost are compatible and that the client is exposed to the minimum of risks between commissioning and completion.

We will always prepare a feedback study after the building has been occupied for six months. This provides the client with useful information concerning maintenance and cleaning issues as well as monitoring the building?s performance in more general terms.

House in Chiswick

This house on a corner site in Bedford Park Chiswick for an overseas couple with three young children and a ‘live in’ nanny was completely refurbished in two phases. The first phase was to convert a ground floor flat with separate entrance for the nanny and the second phase was to completely re-organise the house by moving the main entrance to the southern frontage so that the family could make proper use of the garden and principal rooms by building on a large conservatory. The upper floors were also refurbished...

Manchester Street

It is a very attractive building with decorative brickwork on the front elevation, stained glass in some of the windows and front door and period railings either side of the front entrance in Baron’s Court Conservation Area. Full internal refurbishment, restoration of the front facade and rear windows to the first floor and re-slating the roof.

Regent's Park

This was a Listed Grade II Crown Estate property near the Zoological Gardens where a ‘surgical’ approach was required to insert a heating system into all four floors of the house without damaging the historic features of the building. Other works carried out concerned the construction of two conservatories and the refurbishment of the bathrooms to a very high specification.
