Burns Guthrie is a friendly SME Business with many years experience of residential and educational projects. We promote a team ethic and Practice identity for our projects. We aim to design buildings that delight but are also practical and sustainable.
Education is our primary work sector, but we also work on housing both for private clients and Social Landlords. We work on projects both large and small.
We are a RIBA Chartered Practice with an ethos based around:
1. Listening to client aspirations and delivering or surpassing them
2. Sustainable design with a holistic approach (members of the Passivhaus Trust)
3. Respecting all in the procurement process and working together
Our practice was first formed in the early twentieth century by Cecil Burns.
Our QA procedures ensure that deliverables are assessed at key stages by other staff members and we all call upon one another's experience and knowledge for problem resolution.
Buildings generate almost half of the CO2 output from the UK. We see it as our duty to do what we can in our work to minimise the impact of our designs for the future well-being of our children and grandchildren. We promote the principles of PassivHaus where possible and the use of materials in construction that are net carbon-negative and renewable.
As part of the Governments strategy for the construction industry we embrace the adoption of BIM and collaborative non-adversarial working.
